Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how the general partnership of Liam McNiven and Brian Henning, doing business as BEAM ("BEAM," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information in connection with https://beamhq.whop.site and the BEAM product (together, the "Service").

For privacy purposes, the partnership is the controller of personal information we process about you, except where a third party (such as Whop) is the controller of information it collects on its own platforms.

2. What we collect

We aim to collect only what we need. Depending on how you use the Service, we may process:

Account and contact information. If you create an account, join a waitlist, email us, or otherwise contact us: name, email address, and message content you choose to send.

Credentials and workspace data. Account or demo passwords, and files or credentials you place inside the hosted Linux workspace. In the current implementation, workspace data and related secrets may be stored as host files on the server that runs your desktop. Do not assume client-side-only encryption from the marketing site alone.

Site and usage data. Standard server or platform logs such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring URL, timestamps, and approximate location derived from IP. Because the marketing site is hosted on Whop, Whop may collect this data as described in its own policies.

Cookies and similar technologies. Whop or the hosting platform may set cookies, local storage, or similar technologies (including pixels or analytics common on whop.site pages) to operate the site, remember preferences, and measure traffic. We do not independently operate a separate analytics stack beyond what the host provides, unless we add one later and update this policy.

Product telemetry (if enabled). Early product builds may collect limited technical events (for example feature usage counts, error reports, or performance signals) to keep the Service reliable. We aim to avoid collecting password values or private key material in telemetry. If telemetry practices change materially, we will update this policy.

We do not intentionally collect special categories of sensitive personal data beyond what you choose to put in Your Content or your workspace. Please do not submit information you are not comfortable associating with the Service.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

• Provide, operate, secure, and improve the Service
• Create and manage accounts and credentials
• Respond to messages and support requests
• Monitor reliability, abuse, and fraud
• Comply with law and enforce our Terms
• Communicate about the Service (for example updates or security notices)

We do not use your workspace contents to train public AI models or to advertise to you.

4. How we share information

We may share information with:

Whop. The site is hosted on Whop. If paid features are offered later, Whop may process payments and related buyer information under Whop's terms and privacy policy. Buyers on Whop also agree to Whop's terms and privacy policy.

Infrastructure and service providers. Hosting, email, error monitoring, or similar vendors that process data on our instructions to run the Service.

Legal and safety. When we believe disclosure is required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the Service.

Business transfers. If the partnership reorganizes, merges, or transfers assets related to BEAM, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or a successor policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are commonly defined under U.S. state privacy laws.

5. Retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and meet legal duties.

Account data is generally kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward. Logs are typically retained for shorter operational windows unless needed for security or legal reasons. Workspace data is retained according to product settings and account status; you should export or back up anything you need before closing an account.

6. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. The current demo is a hosted Linux desktop; treat credentials and files inside that workspace as server-side data.

No method of transmission or storage is fully secure. You are responsible for protecting your credentials and the devices you use to access the Service.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

• Access personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete information, subject to legal exceptions
• Export a copy of information you provided
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Appeal a refusal (where required by law)

To exercise these rights, email mcnivewm@miamioh.edu. We may need to verify your request. Authorized agents may submit requests where the law allows, subject to verification.

If Whop holds information as an independent controller (for example marketplace account data), contact Whop for those requests as well.

8. Children

The Service is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

9. International users

We are based in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate. Those places may have different data-protection laws than your home country.

Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms or your consent and contractual safeguards with providers.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on the site and revise the effective date. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy. If changes are material, we will take additional steps where required by law.
